Judith of the Cumberlands

Adapted from: Judith of the Cumberlands by Alice MacGowan (1908)

Newly elected justice of the peace Creed Bonbright (Leo Maloney) is determined to make the mountain men of the Cumberland mountains accept the law and reject feuding. When Creed falls in love with Judith Barrier (Helen Holmes), her jealous moonshiner cousin, Blatchley Turrentine (Paul Hurst), plots to drive the interloper out of the mountains.

This was the third of five films in distributor Mutual Star Productions’ “Helen Holmes series.” The stuntwoman is now best known for The Hazards of Helen serials.
